Join us for an empowering day where you will learn to Stand Up & Speak Up! for animals in Texas, then end celebrating our progress dining and dancing with the Network! We are bringing to Texas the most influential voices for animals in the country! Some of our featured speakers include:

Joyce Tischler, Founder, ALDF

"Covering the Bases, Legal Strategies for Protecting Animals"  

Animal Legal Defense Fund Founder, Joyce Tischler, will host a panel discussion with ALDF legal experts to discuss the value of using legal strategies that include legislation, litigation and regulation to advance animal laws. The panel will use the complex legal issues related to the captive exotic wildlife trade as an example.

“Trends in Animal Protection Legislation Across the Country”

This talk will explore recent developments in state and federal legislation impacting animals, identifying positive advances as well as threats. Special attention will be given to legislation impacting dogs, cats, horses and farm animals. Larger themes will be reviewed regarding prevention of cruelty and an increasing focus on community-based efforts for policy reform.

"Animal use in medical education and research: Progress and Prospects"

Proponents of animal experimentation claim that it has played a crucial role in virtually all medical advances. This speaker argues that the use of animals for these purposes is unreliable and certainly unnecessary. Legal and economic concerns will also be discussed, including efforts toward tighter regulation of the tens of billions of dollars spent on animal experiments.
